Katie Pullom is a doctoral candidate in Education Policy at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. She is also pursuing a dual Master of Arts in Statistics and Data Science from the Wharton School. Her research examines how resources and systems of support that complement education can mitigate the adverse effects of childhood poverty. She is particularly interested in how public systems can be designed to more effectively identify, support, and connect families to the resources they need to thrive and how these pathways can lead to increased human capital and economic mobility.
Katie holds a BS in chemistry from MIT and an MEd in secondary education and teaching from Pace University. Before joining her doctoral program, Katie served as the policy director for the Alabama House Democratic Caucus, where she helped develop the legislative agenda and provided policy recommendations during legislative sessions. She is a former high school chemistry and physics teacher.
