Kent McCarty is a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, where he has served as the Vice Chairman of the Education Committee since 2020. During his tenure in the legislature, he worked to pass the largest teacher pay raise in state history and was the architect of the 2024 legislation to rewrite the Mississippi K-12 education funding formula.
In addition to his legislative work, Kent is a small business owner and entrepreneur who operates a regional chain of coffee shops with locations in multiple states.
