Phyllis Jordan

Phyllis Jordan, the policy and communications director, is responsible for connecting with partner organizations and translating school finance research into actionable tools for policymakers and advocates. Phyllis previously worked as associate director of FutureEd, a think tank at Georgetown University, where she wrote extensively about Covid-relief spending in school districts and about chronic absenteeism. She has also worked at such nonprofits as Attendance Works and the Campaign for Grade-level Reading. Prior to working in education policy, Phyllis spent more than two decades as a journalist, including stints as an editor at The Washington Post and Los Angeles Times. 

Phyllis earned her bachelor’s degree at Sweet Briar College and a master’s in journalism at the University of Missouri, Columbia.
